THRACE, Odessos. Circa 280-225 BC. AR Tetradrachm (27mm, 16.64 g, 12h). In the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, OΔ (civic) monogram above monogram above branch. Topalov, Odesos, Series 23, Issue 19 var. (symbol); AMNG I –; Price 1147 var. (same); HGC 3, 1584. Light iridescent tone, underlying luster, minor roughness, small cleaning marks on obverse, slight doubling and trace deposits on reverse. Good VF. Unpublished, and extremely rare issue; four in CoinArchives (all erroneously as Price 1147), none in ANS photofile.
