French Protectorate. Ranavalona III bronze Fantasy Specimen Pattern 5 Francs 1895 SP63 Brown PCGS, KM-XM3b (Unique), Lec-38 (Unique), Gad-10 (Unique in Bronze). Incuse lettered edge. An absolutely amazing, and seemingly unique, Madagascan numismatic rarity. This enigmatic issue was produced unofficially by Pinches and Co. for Dr. Reginald Huth of London (hence the mention of "Fantasy" by PCGS on the holder). Lecompte and Gadoury both detail a mintage of 25 silver variations but only a single example each in platinum, gold, palladium, bronze, and iron. The surfaces of this treasure are glossy and semi-Prooflike, but also display a light veil of tone that reveals slight colorful iridescence. This is possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity to own this beautifully designed pattern in bronze.
