Bermuda 1.5.1957 P-21c PMG Gem UNC 66 EPQ 5 Pounds
Tied for finest in the population report with just three others, this is a fantastic high-grade example of this popular type. This type, with security thread, was an updated version of the previous delivery of the same type. Just 300,000 notes with the security strip were delivered to Bermuda in 1965 (an additional 500,000 notes without security strip had been printed previously), and were in circulation relatively briefly, as a new 1966 date was introduced shortly thereafter. This would be the final date for this type as a new series was issued with the introduction of the Bermuda Dollar in the early 1970s. A very popular type and not saved in large quantities at the time of issue, we have offered several of this type before, but only offered a single Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ before, in sale 7. Strong color, above average centering and exceptional eye-appeal make for a pretty banknote.
