BOLIVIA. Banco Nacional de Bolivia. 1 Boliviano, ND (ca. 1874). P-S191s. Specimen. PMG Choice About Uncirculated 58 EPQ.
An attractive, exceptionally rare and important specimen from ABNC, and the finest of only 2 certified examples. Emision Del Litoral overprint in red on both sides. Native at right, man with llammas at left, and a scene of Potosi at center. With counterfoil. This exceptional and incredibly significant banknote, possessing dual-nationality, was produced for the coastal area of Bolivia and underwent an overprinting process in New York before its distribution. The 'Emission del Litoral' overprint signified that this issue was to circulate in the Pacific coast departments of what was at the time, Bolivia. However, following the War of the Pacific, Bolivia lost control of the coastal region, resulting in the country becoming landlocked. PMG Comments "Corner Cut Cancelled."
Estimate: $3000 - $4000
