SICILY. Siculo-Punic. Entella. AR Tetradrachm (17.14 gms), ca. 300-289 B.C. NGC AU, Strike: 3/5 Surface: 4/5.
HGC-2, 295; Jenkins-419 (O125/R344). Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Head of horse left; palm tree to right, "MHMHNT" (in Punic = "people of the camp") below. A bright and well-centered example of this beautiful Carthaginian issue. While some minor die cracks are evident, the piece offers an abundance of crisp detail. This chunky high-relief Tetradrachm shimmers with luster and eye appeal. Offering a high degree of originality with extremely limited wear, this coin will certainly appeal to advanced collectors of the illustrious Siculo-Punic series.
