GREAT BRITAIN. Crown, "2" (1602). London Mint; mm: 2. Elizabeth I. PCGS AU-50.
S-2582A; N-2012; KM-7. Seventh issue. Obverse: Crowned and draped bust left, holding lis-tipped scepter and orb, and wearing elaborate collar; Reverse: Coat-of-arms over long cross fourchee. The far SCARCER of the two "dated" Crowns, whereby the mintmark serves as dual role in that it is the final digit of the date as well, this impressive survivor is free from the typical issues which can plague the denomination. Attractively toned and happily problem-free, with some enchanting brilliance elevating the devices as it emerges from the protected areas. Meanwhile, great overall detail remains in the Elizabethan portrait as well as her jeweled crown and bodice.

From the Lucius S. Ruder Collection.

Estimate: $10000 - $20000
