GREAT BRITAIN. Guinea, 1714. London Mint. George I. PCGS AU-58.
S-3628; Fr-327; KM-538. The "Prince Elector" type, this first year of issue presents a good deal of enchanting brilliance remaining along with very little observed wear. Given the newly-installed king's previous role in Germany--namely, as the Prince Elector of Hannover--this additional title was included at the end of the reverse legend (as PR EL), thus accounting for the denomination's appellation. Fairly RARE, especially this attractive and enticing.
From the Lucius S. Ruder Collection.
Estimate: $7000 - $10000
