BHM-1801; Eimer-1315. By: B. Pistrucci. Mintage: 1,369. Obverse: VICTORIA D G BRITANNIARUM REGINA F D, diademed head left; Reverse: ERIMUS TIBI NOBILE REGUM, Victoria seated left on throne, holding scepter and orb, and receiving crown from Britannia, Hibernia, and Scotia standing to left; to far right, lion standing facing, with forepaw resting upon thunderbolt; in three lines in exergue, INAUGURATA / DIE JUNII XXVIII / MDCCCXXXVIII. While the unfortunate that is noted on the PCGS holder can be seen on the edge, this piece remains an impressive and hulking example of the popular coronation type. Well struck, and displaying no evidence of drawdown from excessive handling, this medal is certain to enliven the next collection it enters.
