INDIA. 1/4 Anna, 1909-(C). Calcutta Mint. Edward VII. NGC MS-64 Brown.
KM-502; S&W-7.203; Prid-743. Tied for the finest example of the date yet certified by NGC, the present example delivers the collector of British Indian coinage with a RARE opportunity at a seldom seem KEY DATE in the series. While the other dates from the Edward VII 1/4 Anna series are somewhat more available in Mint State, this date is elusive and one of the hardest pieces to trace in quality grade. The allure is only increased by a rotation of the dies, with the obverse and reverse offset approximately 30 degrees from each other. As such we expect many excited bids for this piece.
Estimate: $2000 - $3000
