Gaius (Caligula). AD 37-41. Æ Sestertius (35mm, 28.72 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck AD 40-41. Pietas seated left, holding patera and resting arm on small draped figure standing facing on basis; PIETAS in exergue / Gaius (Caligula) standing left, holding patera over altar; on either side, victimarius, holding bull for sacrifice, and attendant, holding patera; hexastyle, garlanded temple of Divus Augustus in background. RIC I 51. VF, green and brown patina, some red, some roughness and deposits.
