Constans (337-350). Multiple ou médaillon du poids de 1,5 solidus 342, Trèves. NGC MS 5/5 3/5 wavy flan (6290632-014).
Av. F L IVL CONS - TANS P F AVG. Buste diadémé, drapé et cuirassé, à droite.
Rv. GLORIA EXERCITVS / TR. L'Empereur, en tenue militaire, debout à gauche, le bras gauche appuyé sur un bouclier et le bras droit tenant un trophée.

Unique et non répertorié avec cette légende d'avers. Spectaculaire module, de frappe soignée et centrée. Le flan à peine voilé. Belle couleur dorée. Superbe à Fleur de coin.
À la mort de Constantin II (été 340), Constance II et Constans règnent conjointement. Constans hérite de l'Occident : Espagne, Bretagne, Gaule mais aussi l'Afrique. Il mène une campagne contre les Francs en 341-342 avant de passer en Grande-Bretagne combattre les Pictes en 343. Notre médaillon est probablement pour cette période durant laquelle l'Empereur passe à Trèves, soit 342. Un exemplaire de ce médaillon, avec légende développée PIVS FELIX, se trouve à Berlin

Rev. GLORIA EXERCITVS / TR. The Emperor in military uniform, standing, facing left, left arm on a shield and right arm holding a trophy.

NGC MS 5/5 3/5 wavy flan. Unique and unedited with this obverse legend. Spectacular module, well-struck and centered. The flan is barely bent. Beautiful golden color. Uncirculated.
When Constantine II dies (summer 340), Constantius II and Constans rule together. Constans inherits the West of the Empire : Spain, Brittany, Gaul and also Africa. He launches a campaign against the Franks in 341-342 before going to Great Britain to fight the Picts in 343. Our medallion has probably been struck during this period, when the Emperor passes through Trier, in 342. An example of this medallion, with developed legend PIVS FELIX, is currently in Berlin.
