LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 300-250 BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 14 mm, 2.30 g, 12 h). Head of Athena to left, wearing a Corinthian helmet with a crest and with her hair in a long plait tied at the end. Rev. Μ - Ε Three grains of barley; above, cross-torch. HN III, 1686. Johnston, Bronze, 50. SNG Morcom 289. A beautiful coin, sharply struck from fresh dies and perfectly centered with a lovely brown-green patina. Extremely fine.
