BRUTTIUM, The Brettii. Circa 214-211 BC. Half-unit (Bronze, 17.5 mm, 4.07 g, 9 h). ΝΙΚΑ Head of Nike to left, with her hair bound with a taenia and tied in a bun at the back, wearing a pendant earring and a plain necklace; behind her neck, grain ear. Rev. ΒΡΕΤΤΙΩΝ Zeus striding to right, hurling his thunderbolt from his raised right hand; between his legs, star of eight rays; in the field to right, cornucopiae. HN III 1982. SNG ANS 160. SNG Morcom 356. Clear and attractive with nice brown surfaces. Reverse weakly struck from a damaged die, otherwise, about extremely fine.
