BRUTTIUM. Kroton. Circa 500-480 BC. Triobol (Silver, 12.5 mm, 1.12 g, 8 h). [ϘΡΟretrograde] Tripod with legs ending in lions' paws and with three pellets on the bowl; in the field to right, three pellets; border of dots. Rev. Crab; below, three pellets; border of dots. Cf. HN III 2130 (triobol) and 2136 (obol), but neither use pellets as denominational marks. Extremely rare. Dark patina as found. Struck from slightly worn dies, otherwise, very fine.
