BRUTTIUM. Kroton. Circa 480-430 BC. Stater (Silver, 22.5 mm, 7.76 g, 12 h). ϘΡΟ (retrograde) Tripod with legs ending in lion's paws, two spirals beneath the bowl and three rings at three of the four quarters of the bowl; in the field to left, stork standing to right; border of dots. Rev. Tripod with legs ending in lion's paws, two spirals beneath the bowl and three rings at three of the four quarters of the bowl; all incuse; rayed border. HN III 2102. SNG ANS 259 (same dies?). Sharply struck and attractively toned. An unusually nice example of this often badly struck and worn issue. Extremely fine.
