PHOENICIA. Tyre. 126/5 BC-AD 65/6. Shekel (Silver, 28 mm, 14.35 g, 1 h), CY 39 = 88/7 BC. Laureate head of Melkart to right, lion skin tied around neck. Rev. [TYPOY IEPAΣ] KAI AΣYΛOY Eagle standing left on prow, wings closed and with palm frond behind; to left, ΘΛ above club; to right, Δ; between the eagle's legs, 𐤁 (B in Punic). BMC -. DCA Tyre 141. HGC 10, 357. Nicely toned. Struck from a worn obverse die and with some minor horn silver, otherwise, very fine.
