PHOENICIA. Tyre. 126/5 BC-AD 65/6. Shekel (Silver, 29 mm, 14.27 g, 1 h), CY 45 = 82/1 BC. Laureate head of Melkart to right, lion skin tied around neck. Rev. TYPOY IEPAΣ KAI AΣYΛOY Eagle standing left on prow, wings closed and with palm frond behind; to left, ΕM above club; to right, Δ; between the eagle's legs, 𐤀 (A in Punic). BMC 136. DCA Tyre 160. HGC 10, 357. Lightly toned and with a beautiful reverse. Struck from a worn obverse die and with a few small scratches, otherwise, good very fine.
