DUX (HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE), crowned cruciform shields of arms around central Garter star, Prince of Wales plumes in angles, edge plain, 12.92g, 12h (Dykes, BNJ 2002, pp.156-8; D&H 5; Davis 1), reads 'Milton' under the bust, slight softness to the higher points, otherwise toned, good very fine; and, Shilling, similar, edge plain, 9.00g, 12h (D&H 5), struck on thicker flan than the others hence the heavier weight, rusted dies, blank under bust, residual brilliance and beautifully toned, good very fine; and, Sixpence, similar, edge plain, 3.16g, 1h (D&H 5; Davis 14), M under bust, brillaint surfaces, lightly toned, good very fine; and Halfpenny, similar, edge plain, 8.36g, 12h (D&H 5; Stainton 31d; Davis 5); Milton J under bust, toned with lilac hues, residual brilliance, good very fine, all four coins come in bespoke Spink fitted case, perhaps the only set of its kind (4).
