Jan III Sobieski. Taler (Thaler) 1685, Gdansk/ Danzig
Obverse: Bust of the king facing right, wearing a crown, armor, and a Roman-style cloak tied at the shoulder. Inscription around the edge: IOAN III DG REX POLON M D L RUS PRUS MAS.
Reverse: Two lions supporting the city shield, above which is a laurel wreath with palm and olive branches. On either side of the shield are the initials D-L, with the date 1685 and a mintmark below. Inscription around the edge: MONETA ARGENTEA CIVITATIS GEDANENSIS.
