Kamarina war nach Akrai und Kasmenai die dritte syrakusanische Kolonie. Nach einer verlorenen Schlacht gegen die Mutterstadt wurde Kamarina 552 v. Chr. zerstört. Nach dem Wiederaufbau 499 v. Chr. wurde sie um 484 v. Chr. von Gela wieder zerstört. 461 v. Chr. begann der zweite Wiederaufbau.
Kamarina was the third Syracusan colony after Akrai and Kasmenai. It was destroyed in 552 BC after losing a battle against its mother city. Following the reconstruction of Kamarina in 499 BC, it was destroyed again in 484 BC by Gela. The second reconstruction of the city began in 461 BC.
