PERÚ. KM# 38.2 (A&C# 61) Bustos L8E-25.4c – 8 Escudos 1725/4 Lima L M. NGC AU55. - Emisión temprana acuñada con troqueles retrabajados a partir de los que subsistían de la emisión de 1724 a nombre de Felipe V. Correspondiente a una subvariante caracterizada por la notable visibilidad de la sobrefecha 5/4 en el cuadrante inferior derecho del lado de las columnas y la ausencia del punto antes de la inicial "M" del ensayador Félix Cristóbal Cano Melgarejo, a diferencia de otros ejemplares con sobrefecha.
Cruz completa y buena definición de elementos en áreas centrales, leyendas parcialmente visibles en ambos lados, destacando la terminación "(HISP)ANIA" del lado de la cruz, ligero doble golpe y rotación aproximada de -50°, peso de 26.85 gramos reportado en la etiqueta del slab. (Emisión estimada de hasta 83,674 piezas según el cálculo de Murray-Lazo).
En cuanto al estado de conservación, exhibe superficies sin afectaciones, con únicamente ligeros indicios de contacto en los puntos más altos. Cabe mencionar que los ejemplares con sobrefecha resultan particularmente raros de hallar en alta condición y que, hasta el momento NGC registra 4 en su censo; 3 en AU55 incluyendo el presente y un único MS63, en contraste con las 9 piezas sin sobrefecha, de las cuales 3 se encuentran en calidad sin circular. Por otra parte, no se registran piezas de esta variedad graduadas por PCGS. Sin duda una pieza en alta demanda y el único 8 Escudos de Luis I que aún puede considerarse asequible

PERU. KM# 38.2 (A&C# 61) Bustos L8E-25.4c – 8 Escudos 1725/4 Lima L M. NGC AU55. Early issue struck with reworked dies from those remaining from the 1724 emission in the name of Philip V. Corresponds to a subvariety characterized by the notable visibility of the 5/4 overdate in the lower right quadrant on the pillar side and the absence of the dot before the assayer initial "M" of Félix Cristóbal Cano Melgarejo, unlike other overdate examples. Complete cross and good definition of elements in the central areas, legends partially visible on both sides, with the ending "(HISP)ANIA" on the cross side standing out, slight double strike and approximate rotation of -50°, weight of 26.85 grams as reported on the slab label (estimated mintage of up to 83,674 pieces according to the Murray-Lazo calculation). In terms of preservation, it exhibits surfaces free of impairments, with only light signs of contact on the highest points. It is worth noting that overdate examples are particularly rare to find in high grade and, to date, NGC records 4 in its census, 3 in AU55 including the present piece and a single MS63, in contrast to the 9 pieces without overdate, of which 3 are graded Mint State. On the other hand, no examples of this variety are recorded as graded by PCGS. Undoubtedly a highly sought-after piece and the only 8 Escudos of Luis I that can still be considered affordable.
