CRETE. Itanos. Circa 320-270 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 16 mm, 2.62 g, 6 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet dcorated with two olive leaves on the visor and a palmette on a tendril on the bowl. Rev. ITANIΩ-N Eagle, wings closed, standing left, looking right; all within incuse square. BMC 17. Svoronos, Crète, 32 and pl. XIX, 15. Traité 1430 and pl. CCXLV, 2. Well struck and unusually attractive. The obvserse somewhat rough, otherwise, extremely fine.
