ISLAMIC, Anatolia & al-Jazira (Post-Seljuk). Artuqids (Mardin). Qutb al-Din Il-Ghazi II, AH 572-580 / AD 1176-1184. Dirhem (Bronze, 32 mm, 16.82 g, 9 h), dated AH 579 = AD 1183. Two diademed and draped busts facing. Rev. Inscription in five lines, naming the Abbasid Caliph, al-Nâsir li'l-dîn and the titles and ancestors of Qutb al-Din Il-Ghazi, as well as a "curse formula" against counterfeiters. IC 1205. Poole 37. S&S type 32.3. Well struck and clear. Very fine.

This is the last series stuck in Mardin prior to the Ayyubid conquest. The coin will be sold with a curse inscription against everyone that "dishonours" it, so please bid for it with that in your mind.
