ISLAMIC, Southern Anatolia. Circa 10th-13th Century. Weight of 10-Dirhams (Bronze, 15x18 mm, 29.36 g). A commercial weight in the form of a flattened sphere of doubly truncated form, with a deep centering point within an incised circle on the top and the bottom, and with its sides ornamented with a triple row of facets, each with a punched bird's eye pattern. Dark brown surfaces with a lovely sand patina; very appealing. Good very fine.
Interesting enough, this weight is extremely well ballanced and can equilibrate in each and every triple row of facets.
