ISLAMIC, Southern Anatolia. Circa 10th-13th Century. (Bronze, 23x20 mm, 58.67 g), Weight of 20-Dirhams. A commercial weight in the form of a flattened sphere of doubly truncated form, with a deep centering point within an incised circle on the top and the bottom, and with its sides ornamented with a triple row of facets, each with a punched bird's eye pattern. Dark green surfaces with appealing earthen highlights. Good very fine.
Interesting enough, this weight is extremely well ballanced and can equilibrate in each and every triple row of facets.
