Honorius, with Theodosius II, 395-423. Exagium Solidi (Bronze, 15x14 mm, 3.67 g), 408-423. Crowned, diademed and draped facing busts of Honorius, on the left, and Theodosius II, on the right; between them above, a cross. Rev. Blank. Bendall -. CPAI -. MAH 360 var. = Pondera 4231 var. (cruder style). Very rare. Minor edge chipping on the sheet metal, otherwise, very fine.
Unlike on lot 2015 above, this and the following piece show the two emperors of equal size, indicating they were perhaps produced late in Honorius' reign, when Theodosius II had grown up.
