NORTHEAST GAUL. Ambiani. Circa 60-30 BC. Half Stater (Subaeratus, 14 mm, 3.83 g), a contemporary plated imitation. Blank convex surface. Rev. Celticized horse galloping to right, horseman transformed into fibula-like figure; before, above and behind, eye-shaped ornaments; below horse, crescent above pellet between Ƨ - Ƨ. Cf. DT 242 and LT 8704 (for stater with similar design but not plated). Breaks in plating, otherwise, very fine.
