MESSENIA. Thuria. Caracalla, 198-217. Assarion (Bronze, 21 mm, 4.45 g, 1 h). [AY] K M AΥ ANⲰT[...] (sic!) Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla to right, seen from behind. Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙ[ΑΝΩΝ] Athena standing front, head to left, holding patera in her right hand and spear in her left. BCD Peloponessos 834.3 var. (differing obverse die). Very rare. Some deposits and the reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, fine.
