Pescennius Niger. AD 193-194. AR Denarius (17mm, 2.91 g, 12h). Antioch mint. IMP CAES C PESCEN NIGER IVSTI AV, laureate head right, slight drapery on left shoulder / Seven stars above crescent. RIC IV 73b var. (obv. legend and bust type); BMCRE 312 var. (same obverse die as pl. 13, 15); RSC 64 var. (obv. legend and bust type; Triton II, lot 940 (hammer $1200). Deeply toned with traces of find patina, reverse pitting. VF. Extremely rare.
