AUSTRIA: Restrikes, AR guldiner, 1953/'1486', KM-XM28, silver restrike of the 1486 guldiner (Dav-8087) commemorating the 650th anniversary of the Hall mint (since 1303), Archduke Sigismund standing facing with sword and scepter, flanked by coat-of-arms held by lion and crested and crowned helmet, actual date below his feet // knight on horseback right, holding flag with date below and 16 provincial arms around, brilliant luster with light golden toning, PCGS graded MS67. As the first thaler-sized silver coin, the 1486 Guldiner of Archduke Sigismund of Tyrol became the model for future silver crowns, including the Joachimsthaler of Bohemia in 1519, from which derives the word "thaler".
