This antecedent of the euro was struck on the US dollar standard with silver 5 europinos = 1 dollar. This type was struck Hamburg mint (Hamburgische Münze) in Germany, with authorization of the American authorities that controlled much of Germany during the Allied Occupation of 1945-52.
