SWEDEN. Örtug, ND (1465-1467). Stockholm Mint. Interregnum. NGC AU-55.
Delzanno-369; Frösell-224; Llt-1; Bruun Auction-222; Bruun-11283. Weight: 1.42 gms. Excessively rare. Variation with large cross on obverse. A breathtakingly beautiful example, lustrous and nearly 'as struck'. All three sub-types of the Interregnum coinage are very rare in any condition but impossibly so as well-preserved as this. The two examples sold in Sweden in 2009 and 2019 were either bent and brushed or spotted with planchet defects, putting this AU example in stark contrast.
There were multiple interregnums in 15th and 16th century Sweden as noblemen and kings fought over the throne. This particular regency, lasting three years, saw three different regents.

Estimate: €2500 - €3000
