SWEDEN. Örtug, ND (1457-1461). Stockholm Mint. Kristian I. NGC VF-35.
Galster-214; Delzanno-365; Llt-1; Bruun Auction-254; Bruun-11316a. Weight: 1.32 gms. Excessively rare, this being the variation with 'K' on the obverse and no stars by its side. Fully legible with pleasing surfaces far above its numeric grade.

Christian I (of Denmark) was chosen by the nobility after they deposed Karl Knutsson Bonde. He quickly became unpopular after imposing heavy taxes, and a rebellion broke out in 1463. Karl Knutsson Bonde returned to the throne in 1464. This variation of Christian's Stockholm coinage, with the uncial 'K' is believed to be the very first type.

From the L. E. Bruun Collection.

Estimate: €1200 - €1500
