L.E. Bruun Collection Part II 14-15 Mar 2025

The Prussian city of Elbing (present day Poland) was under Swedish control 1626-1635 and again 1655-1660, and an extensive minting started in 1628. The higher denominations, however, are all rare and highly sought, especially in as beautiful a condition as this. The City arms with the two crosses were intentionally made to resemble that of Danzig in order to facilitate the acceptance of the coinage in Poland.
