SWEDEN. Erfurt. Ducat, 1634. Erfurt Mint. Gustav II Adolf. NGC MS-60.
Fr-923; KM-54; SB-15a; SG-cf. 55ff (for obverse).; Hagander-cf. 108 (for obverse); Bruun Auction-923; Bruun-11909. Weight: 3.42 gms. Mintmaster: Johann Schneider. These posthumous strikes (Gustav II Adolf died in 1632) have been subject to intense studies (Ottar Ertzheid Collection in particular), yet none appear to have listed this variation; the obverse is identical to the 1634, SG-55ff, having a distinct, crooked leaf or flower in the legend, but is married to a complete different reverse. The reverse of this coin is similar in type to SG-48-49 but has a horseshoe in the legend at 12 o'clock.
From the L. E. Bruun Collection.
Ex: J. Siökrona Collection (Stockholm, 1883).
Estimate: €1000 - €1200
