SCHWEINFURT: white metal medal, 1817, Whiting-597, Brozatus-1247, Zak-204, 36mm white metal medal for the 300th Anniversary of the Reformation; DOCTOR LVTHERVS REFORMATOR TERTIO SECVLARIS around bust of Martin Luther // IN / MEMORIAM / REFORMATIONIS / ECCLESIA / SUINFURTENSIS / D XXXI OCT /MDCCCXVII, an attractive nearly mint state example, PCGS graded AU58. The Latin name Suinfurtensis refers to the Franconian city of Schweinfurt, so this medal was issued by the church in that city on fro the celebrations of 31 October 1817. PCGS has it labeled as Rothenburg for some reason.
