THRACE, Anchialus. Gordian III, with Tranquillina. AD 238-244. Æ Pentassarion (25mm, 12.01 g, 6h). Struck AD 241-244. Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian right, seen from behind vis-à-vis diademed and draped bust of Tranquillina left / Statue of Apollo standing left, altar to left, resting elbow on column to right; all within tetrastyle temple. Tachev, Anchialos 634-635 (O20/R148); RPC VII.2 1148; Varbanov –. Dark green patina with earthen highlights, minor marks. VF. Extremely rare, only two recorded in Tachev and RPC, this superior to both.
