EASTERN EUROPE, Imitations of Alexander III of Macedon. Early 3rd century BC. AR Tetradrachm (26.5mm, 16.38 g, 11h). Mint in the Danube region. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left, holding eagle and scepter; to left, W. OTA 568/2-3; Lanz 879-83 var. (controls); KMW 1446-54 var. (same); CCCBM I 185-99 var. (same). Lightly toned, hints of luster, minor obverse die wear. Near EF. Very rare. Excellent style, probably contemporary to Alexander's official issues.
