SWEDEN. Stralsund. Taler, 1635-HP. Stralsund Mint. Kristina. NGC VF Details--Scratches.
Dav-5829; KM-cf. 81; Bruun-11929. Weight: 27.88 gms. Mintmaster: Hans Puls. Extremely rare date with no recorded sales on Coinarchives. Light scratches in fields and with deep, dark patina accentuating the devices.

While the Swedish coin catalogues do not recognize Stralsund as a Swedish possession until the conquest in 1637, the city was under Swedish control from 1630 following the Treaty of Stettin. As with other North German cities, who had their minting rights granted by the Holy Roman Emperor, and the Emperor is mentioned on the coinage, not the Swedish ruler, who were in fact not involved in the minting. L. E. Bruun listed these coin under Sweden, so we are abiding by that in this catalogue, too.

From the L. E. Bruun Collection.

Ex: Countship of Brahesminde Collection (Private Sale - 1922).

Estimate: 400 - 600
