Rarely Offered 1814 Komité Sedler - Missing From Many Collections
DENMARK. Chamber of Commerce. 5 Rigsbankdaler, 8.1.1814. PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
Pick-Unlisted. Sieg-59. Bruun-68. Essentially the only denomination of this series that can be acquired, although survivors are rare, and this is the only example found in the PMG population report. A rather simplistic design, with a decorative border on two sides, and a blind embossing at the top. This example has seen moderate circulation but good eye appeal otherwise.
While these notes are technically private banknotes, they remain highly collectible, but unfortunately, the number of surviving examples is minimal, causing them to be overlooked by many collectors. In fact, the notes are so rare that Pick was never aware of them, although they should be properly listed in the Specialized Volume and deserve inclusion in any advanced Danish paper money collection of this period.
