Enthralling 1835 5 Rigsbankdaler
DENMARK. National Bank. 5 Rigsbankdaler, 1835. PMG Very Fine 30.
Pick-A58. Sieg75. Bruun-74. Printed in vibrant blue color on the front. An attractive example with a contemporary annotation on the back dating to 1887 that helps bring this rarity come to life and gives an indication how long notes like this remained in circulation (and why they are so rare). Just a single example grades finer in the PMG population report as of the time of cataloging. PMG Comments "Annotations."
Only this 5 Rigsbankdaler and a 50 Rigsbankdaler were issued in the 1830s. The blue seen on the front of this was perhaps a deterrent to counterfeiting, which remained a problem.
