Admirable 1848-Dated Kreditbeviser
DENMARK. Statsgjeldkassen i Kjobenhavn. 5 Rigsbankdaler, 1848. PMG Very Fine 25.
Pick-A66. Sieg-87A. Bruun-75. Seen with some pinholes, but otherwise nothing but honest circulation, and a wholesome example of this rare type. This note is tied for finest in the PMG population report along with just a single other example, and is surely missing from many Danish collections. PMG Comments "Pinholes."
The Kreditbeviser of 1848-51 were printed in several varieties, but all were 5 Rigsbankdaler notes, which would have had the most use and acceptance in circulation. The issuance of these marked a turning point in banknote production in Denmark, as the output became more consistent during the second half of the 19th century.
