NORWAY. Hvid, ND (1483-1505). Nidaros (Trondheim) Mint. Hans. NGC EF-40.
Galster-157; Sieg-3; NMD-2; Schive-XIV:26; Schou-215; Bruun-9242. Weight: 0.68 gms. A splendid example with excellent details and of unusually sound metal. Extremely rare type issued by the Archbishop of Nidaros, Gaute Ivarsson but struck in the name of king Hans.
On this particular die variant the engraver has by mistake placed a C between the O and the L in the name of the patron saint of Nidaros, OLAVVS (Olaf the Holy).
From the L. E. Bruun Collection.
Estimate: 2500 - 3500
