Very Attractive and Believed Unique in Private Hands
NORWAY. 1/8 Speciedaler, 1649. Christiania Mint. Frederik III. NGC MS-63.
KM-34; Hede-13A; Sieg-9.1; NMD-141; Schou-29; Aagaard-18.1; Bruun-9605. Weight: 3.53 gms. Mintmaster: Peter Grüner (PG). Engraver: Hans zum Busch (obverse). In spite of a planchet flaw that leaves daylight visible through it, this is a very attractive piece with exceptional detail, Gem luster and a pleasant toning. Less than a handful of examples are known of which this is believed to be the only one in private hands.
