A discreet ink number can be seen in obverse field, '2619'. The number refers to "Madai's Vollsttändiges Thaler-Cabinet" from 1767, which was used as a reference well into the 19th century.
Johan, prince of Östergötland, was the son of King Johan III, Half brother of King Sigismund, nephew of King Karl IX and cousin of King Gustav II Adolf.
