Extremely Rare and in Stunning Condition
SWEDEN. 1/4 Riksdaler, 1641/0. Stockholm & Sala Mint. Kristina. NGC AU Details--Cleaned.
KM-180; SM-35; Delzanno-59; Bruun-11963. Weight: 7.05 gms. Mintmaster: Marcus Kock. Engraver: Petter Michelsson. Excessively rare with less than 10 known. With no wear worth mentioning, lustrous surfaces with golden tones and only minor hairlines.
The last example sold in public auction was probably Bonde's in 2007.
To get away from the plague-ridden city of Stockholm, the mint moved to Sala again in 1639. It moved back to Stockholm in 1641, and so for the coins of that date it is not yet possible to say in which mint they were produced.
From the L.E. Bruun Collection.
