Struck with Swedish Gold from the Ädelfors Mine - Low Mintage of 188
SWEDEN. 1/2 Ducat, 1741-HM. Stockholm Mint. Fredrik I. NGC MS-61.
Fr-68; KM-435; SM-47; SG-66; Hagander-384; Bruun-12870. Weight: 1.73 gms. Mintmaster: Hans Malmberg. Engraver: Nils Georgii. Extremely rare one-year type with a low mintage of only 188. An old, dusty toning cannot subdue the luster on this handsome Half Ducat, which was mistakenly listed as a Quarter in the 1928 L. E. Bruun catalogue.
Struck with gold from the Ädelfors mine in the county of Småland as shown by the arms of Småland underneath the Tre Kronor shield on the reverse.
From the L.E. Bruun Collection.
Ex: Countship of Brahesminde Collection (Private Sale - 1922).
Estimate: 6000 - 8000
