SWEDEN. 4 Daler Plate Money, 1716 countermarked 1718. Avesta Mint. Karl XII.
KM-PM49; SM-150; Delzanno-152; Tingström-A1; Bruun-13818. Dimensions: 244 x 21mm. Weight: 3057 gms. Very rare; Tingström records 23 examples.
In 1718 a depreciation of the plate coinage took place, making their new value 2/3 of the old. The coins in the possession of the Crown or the banks were exempt, however, and were fitted with the countermark of the arms of Götaland.
