Dominion of Canada $50 1917 Registered War Loan and Accompanied Check drawn on the Bank of Montreal. Dominion of Canada $50 1917 Registered War Loan and Accompanied Check drawn on the Bank of Montreal. This War Loan Bond from the Liberty Loan Collection features the portraits of the then Monarchs King Edward and Queen Mary. These "Victory Loans" of Canada are scarcer by a factor of 10+ in relation to the WWI American Liberty Loan Bonds. This Dominion of Canada First Victory Loan was a 5.5% issue of 5, 10 and 20 year gold bonds in denominations as small as $50. It was quickly oversubscribed, collecting $398 million or about $50 per capita. The Second and Third Victory Loans were floated in 1918 and 1919, bringing another $1.34 billion. The United States in comparison issued 21 Billion dollars in Liberty loan bonds. This Bond is Graded VF Choice Very Fine 35 and the Accompanied check XF 40 by PMG.
