Russian MMM Ponzi Scheme Certificates, 1989-94, Lot of 11 Notes Russia, lot of 11 UNC notes issued by MMM, a Russian company that perpetrated one of the world's largest Ponzi schemes of all time. It was eventually shut down by Russian police in 1994. MMM stands for the first initial of the founders' surnames: Sergei Mavrodi (pictured on all the notes), Vyacheslav Mavrodi, and Olga Melnikova. The lot includes 1-, 10-, 20-, 50-, 100-, 500-, 1000-, and 10000 Biletov ("Bilet" literally means coupon or ticket). Two types of each of the 100 and 500 are included. An unusual lot, with a fascinating story.
